Knowledge Management is an essential component for all programmes. It involves the creation and management of an environment that encourages knowledge to be created, shared, learnt, enhanced, organised, utilised and reutilised. The knowledge should be appropriate as per the requirement and can be structured e.g. documents and databases, or unstructured e.g. e-mails and training modules.
The concept includes the two elements of ‘collecting’ information followed by ‘connecting’ the information to those that need it. This ensures on one hand appropriately harnessing of exisiting knowledge and creating learnings from them, and on the other hand, optimize resource utilization by preventing duplication and promoting evidence based decision making.
PDI has committed itself to strengthen the evidence based programming for Human Welfare and Social Upliftment, through “provision of information, documentation, and analysis on various issues related to Development Sector”.
In this context, PDI has undertaken various initiatives after its formation like setting up of SHIC - Sexual Health Information Centre and SEHER – Resource Centre for Young People. The initiatives vary in nature and style and aims to meet the range of requirements within the country.
